You're right that people want all kinds of things from their entertainment, not just boundary-pushing. I mean, there's a reason Touched by an Angel was so popular, right?

Right, exactly, that's all I was meaning to say. "Problematic" entertainment is absolutely popular (and for perfectly good reasons that no one should be shamed over), I just hesitate to say that there's a necessary correlation between them.
