But why not?

I mean, it doesn't necessarily mean she should be in a new Xena series.

She certainly could. But having the same people in it, 20 years later, would mean that the new series would have to be much more melancholy. It would have to address things like aging and mortality and finitude. I don't think you can have a time jump like that without addressing those things. And that would be a totally legit choice to make, and could be a good series. It's just not the one that I want to watch.

But, but, but, darkness no parents and misery means it is adult and respectable like Game of Titties Thrones and not camp and fun to watch like enjoyable shows.

But...Xena had that, towards the ending? Especially with her crimes coming back to her. Yes it was campy and light-hearted often, but it didn't shun the deep themes every so often.

Exactly, "towards the ending" it fit as a narrative arc that ultimately closed the book on her.

And that's why you get good writers. Anygayz, Xena was ALWAYS good about being campy while dealing with heavy stuff (like all the times Xena and Gabrielle died and that time they seriously tried to kill each other and all those times Xena killed children etc etc).
It doesn't have to be dark and gritty just because the plot requires for some depth.

I'm still not seeing why Lucy couldn't be Xena again. I think most Xena fans just want so see Xena again, it doesn't have to be that fancy.
