Re: What foods do you prefer raw?

Raw salmon, because sushi, also raw squid, for the same reason.

Most fruits are good raw, I generally agree about carrots, though I don't mind them as part of a group of baked vegetables.

You know one thing that surprised me while watching YouTube taste-testing videos? The predominance of people saying that Spam should be cooked instead of eaten straight out of the can. Thing is, Spam straight out of the can is already cooked, so it can be eaten "raw". I only eat Turkey Spam though, when I am in the mood for Spam (it is very strongly flavoured).

Ah, I can actually explain the Spam thing! I come from a long line of Spam-eaters, haha. It's much better when it's pan-fried, because it gets a texture upgrade (some nice crispiness instead of just mash), and the flavor improves too (a bit of smokiness/caramelization). True, you can eat it straight from the can, it is cooked, but most people that eat a lot of it consider that its "raw" form.

Yeah, to tell the truth that sort of mindset sounds very logical, from a cooking standpoint. I just have a bit of mental dissonance because I frequently eat it "raw".
