Er, just how is the show supposed to be longer? TV programs have to fit into certain times lots, which means they have to be a certain length. Changing the length of the show and interrupting it with commercial breaks will almost certainly alter the show's rhythm. Not having the two hosts is already a drastic change.

I was thinking that. Channel 4's programme slots (not accounting for adbreaks) are ten minutes, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes. It does have "movie slots" but those are reserved for actual movies. Those are set programme lengths too. They cannot be cobbled together, because they have other shows to fit in around it. There is no space in the schedules for a 1 hour 10 minutes single show, or 90 minute single show.
