I just watched this series and I barely remember that scene. I mean, the whole series was very serious so I seems like any source of levity might seem out of place.

Really? I think there was a lot of levity in the series, especially the banter between the men, and the scene where they trick Sobel into cutting a fence. Some episodes are grimmer than others, but even Bastogne there were funny moments.

Haha I'm kinda the same. I always skip the first ten minutes of that episode because of it, but I don't know if it's because I don't like it or because I'm generally pretty sex scene-adverse. Speirs stealing the silver was pretty funny though.

But yeah, it was the only sex scene in a 10 hour long mini-series, so it sticks out a bit. Of course it had to be Tom Hardy, lol.

He looks like such a dweeby baby in this scene I was thinking "why do we have to have the only sex scene with him?" IMO he looks better the older he gets.

To be fair, he had just gotten over a pretty bad drug addiction around that time so he was pretty skinny.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly why they threw it in, to be honest. That whole episide, until the part where they find the camp, is the guys just killing time. They're still technically at war but it barely feels like war anymore so much as like a weird standstill, and everyone's wondering what they're even doing there. Then they find the camp.

Maybe not, but you get to see Tom Hardy fucking, so no cloud without a silver lining, eh?
