24. Yeah, there's some range of ages there but Utena herself is 14. I always thought everyone in that show seemed way too old too. This is what made me finally give up on anime ages ever making any sense. When they're not too old, they're too young.

Consider the following: At the end of Azumanga Daioh, Chiyo is 13. Chiyo is only one year younger than Utena. Anime doesn't make sense. Thank you.

And 39, I know how you feel. :/

Er, manga and anime are media where design is often used for verisimilitude, and not supposed to be realistic. It's a really big part of the two artforms, and I thought that was very obvious...

Oh, sure; and personally, 95% of the time things like that don't bother me because I do accept it as part of the style. (I mean, I did watch Utena regardless.) But that doesn't stop it from sometimes being jarring at extremes.
