22. Dude, yes! On one hand, I appreciate the fact that it ended. But on the other hand, I wish she hadn’t built up our expectations for a climax that… sorta dwindled away. But it’s hard to make yourself work when you lose enthusiasm for your story.
26. Hmm, I have the opposite reaction. Because the more the Doctor is related, through imagery or anvilicious metaphors, to Christ, I find myself more turned off from the character. Because he is a very flawed individual. Flawed characters are awesome, but not when I get the impression that the creators are not acknowledging their weaknesses, and instead trying to paint a character into a Messiah when it just doesn’t fit.
29. Utena is supposed to be 13, Anthy is 14. I know this intellectually, but no. I guess I always assumed she was older, and that stuck. I think I bump all the characters’ age up a couple years.
31. A cross-over? That might actually work with Lucius and Wolfram, but hmm… how would you get baking into it? I have the strangest feeling that Wolfram’s idea of baking would be burning wheat fields, and being angry when that doesn’t transform the crops into loafs.
42. But maybe that person relates to the way Sakura feels, how she keeps trying even though she’s out of her league in many ways, and the manner in which she transforms herself? Maybe they find themselves in a similar situation… without ninja, of course. It’s not helpful to dictate to someone who their favorite character should be. It’s a really subjective, sometimes random thing. One of my favorite characters is a charisma vacuum who is an ass to his girlfriend and her best friend, and is almost universally hated in fandom. But I relate to where he is in his life.
And just because Sakura might be someone’s favorite character, this doesn’t mean that she can’t love Toph, Kitty, Azula, Inara, Fai Valentine, the Oracle, Zoe, Katara, Wonder Woman, Storm, etc. as well.
61. Haha, ok, related my response above. Yay, GG secret! I really enjoy Blair, but I feel that a large part of fandom lets her off the hook. Jenny is basically acting just like Blair would, but she’s getting complete hate for it. I feel so weird, because I really adore both of them. Hell, I love everyone on this damn show, except Vanessa who’s sorta scary and her eyes do weird things.

I think the parallels with the Doctor lie more in the sense of The Man Who Makes People Better. People meet the Doctor, and are usually better for the experience. The same can be said of Jesus. It's also just usually such an upbeat and hopeful show, and hope and wonder were more what I took out of my faith than judgement and hatred.
Just sayin'...
But yeah. Gotta love the Doctor for his faults. Especially Ten, because sweet pants, does he have a lot of them.

And oh my WORD, yes. Luckily, it doesn't seem like Donna will let him off the hook so easily. I want to like Ten, I do, I do. He tries so hard and does so much good when he's not being a self-righteous hypocrite. And sometimes while doing so; man can multi-task and confuse.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-16 03:47 am (UTC)(link)Okay, so basically, it goes like this: Yûri, being the pacifist he is, tries to make an alliance with Cornwall during their war. (In my happy place, this makes sense. Right here, it probably doesn't...) So Yûri is negotiating with Raven and Wolfram gets fed up with it. Wolfram goes to his room where Lucius comes in and molests him. ("Lord Raven always says it makes him feel better...") So there's basically pre!pr0n candy and then Kanmuri walks in. 8D 3SUM TIEM! Without the crack, if that's possible. (-_-);;;
I was working on a drabble in that same AU!verse where Kanmuri was teaching Wolfram and Lucius how to bake. Short on hands and all. (bleh) Makes more sense if I plugged it here but the files are on my laptop.
