♦ STILL prance around all "LOOK AT ME I AM A FAIRY/ELF/GRIFFIN/DRAGON/whatever" (and where, might I ask, are all the non-Shrek ogre Otherkin? The kobold Otherkin? The rust monster Otherkin? The orc Otherkin? I guess only pretty imaginary creatures get trapped in human bodies, huh?)
...and still get "omg, you're so brave!" and not "get some fucking help," as a response?
There's nothing difficult about 45's position. S/he is human and needs to deal with it, and if s/he can't, s/he needs therapy. Period.

They're admitting this issue they have in their lives, acknowledging it, not flaunting it in front of the comm. They're also not suggesting that this 'mental weirdness' (to quote the OP) is damaging their ability to function in society.
I see it as 'difficult' for the reasons that I said; admitting this sort of thing to people will likely get ill-informed, amused, or even cruel reactions. Not a good position to be in, whatever your beliefs/mental state happens to be.

(Took me a long time to work out what the beak was.) My belief is that this is a minor, harmless psychological quirk, the product of a rich inner life. And yet it would clearly be a Very Bad Idea to actually tell anyone about it!
