49. So I'm guessing that I'm the only one who likes it because the way the main character acts is actually believable and full of human flaws? God forbid someone writes something that isn't a full-fledged vampire story, lest it be labeled anything other than a Mary-Sue publication. I'm not saying it's the greatest series to ever be written, but for the love of god will people ever just give up? Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's shit; it just means it strikes a chord with a large number of people. And really, something can be good even if you don't like it (the writing style, the content, the fucking cover; it doesn't really matter). I believe it's called "a matter of a opinion?"

No no, I believe it's called shit. I liked Harry Potter and it was 'popular' true I have issues with it but the series started out well, but couldn't keep the pace.

The fact is Twilight takes itself seriously, the main female character is impossible to sympathize with and is pathetic no girl would act like that IRL unless she was mentally stunted. And the writing style? - oh god, don't get me started on it.

Everyones entitled to like something, I love a lot of shit things but I never pretend they're more then they are, the fact is Twilight strikes a chord with a lot of immature people, it's allowed it just makes me feel ill.

Oh and some shit, can be fucking excellent if it's taken with a pinch of salt and a grin but this:

"When I pulled it out, I gasped aloud. Edward looked just as beautiful as he did in real life, staring at me out of the picture with the warm eyes I'd missed for the past few days. It was almost uncanny that anyone could look so . . . so . . . beyond description. No thousand words could equal this picture."

No dear, that's JUST shit.

It's a matter of opinion, yes, but everyone's entitled to saying what they want, 49OP included. That said, this doesn't mean that Twilight isn't shit, because it is. A lot of people who like the book understand that it's shit. I liked it at one point, but I definitely regret it now, because after thinking about why i liked it, i realized that there was nothing good about it and that it was just any girl's vampire fantasy written out on the page with sparkles as a bonus.

Bella. What flaws does she have, may I ask? There aren't any; nothing other than her slight desire to be a vampire, but that's what all the girls reading the book are thinking, themselves. There is nothing believable about the way she acts or how the story unfolds with her as the central character. She's horrifically flat so you end up reading more into her than you should. The plot buffets her around and everyone loves her, and I can't think of any reason why they should, other than through some bizarre twist of fate her blood tastes really nice to Edward Cullen and so he becomes obsessed with it. Oh, and she's mildly pretty and a little too pale, but that's such an awful flaw, because it makes other humans love her that much more. Who on earth gets obsessed with a hot guy who snubs her at school? She's got enough friends on her first day; so despite mild curiosity, wouldn't you just focus on settling down before trying to find out about the hottie and his family on the other table?

Edward? Oh, I can't stand Edward either. I fell in love with him a little, but that's because he's just as blank a character as Bella is, so girls can project all the sexy qualities they can imagine into him. It's the same damn thing. The author was lucky because she couldn't write. The author was lucky because all the immature kids don't realize that these things weren't in the book; they just read them in. The good bits? you're imagining them. The book's just shit, otherwise.

There are a lot of popular things that I like, and that i'm sure OP likes, including Harry Potter. Everything has its imperfections, but with Twilight, it really is shit. I probably wouldn't mind so much of the author didn't take it all so seriously, but god, she does, and i don't understand why.
