His art's got a very distinct style, and the end result always seems to end up looking a good deal different on the screen than it did on paper.
Yeah, I love his art, but I imagine it's more or less impossible to animate. FFVI only had stills of good quality (all the moving parts are squished pixels; charming, but squished. XD), so it was probably easier to do a closer approximation of his concept in that. And it was my first FF, so I'm not exactly a veteran myself!

And such a shame, too. Which is why I'm writing fanfic starring Kuja, Zidane, Garnet, and possibly others from IX in major supporting roles. XD
Yeah, Garnet's cloak was nice, I agree. I liked her shirt too, it was just the trouserss, really. Well, at least they were practical.

I still want to know why his was the only name that changed significantly between the Japanese and English versions...Garnet's trousers got even more bizarre when she Tranced. XD;
