When I'm afraid that someone is going to try to hurt me, it's possible for my fear to boil over and cease. I enter a state where all my emotions shut off and I coldly consider the optimal way to resolve each threat. It's only happened a few times in my life, and it was always a false alarm. (One of the strangest experiences of my life was finding the horror game The Breach, the only work of fiction I've found that can trigger that state. Turns out I can maintain it for at least a couple of hours.)

I guess so. "Dissociation" seems like a really broad term.
