Re: Vidders and Artists

As an artist, I prefer a prompt that's like "Draw [character] doing [pose], his/her expression looking [emotion]" instead of just "Draw [character]." By being too vague I get artist's block and the character ends up being in a generic pose because I can't think of anything interesting to do with them, especially if it's a character I'm not familiar with.

Basically, give a prompt that has some detail of what you're looking for, but not too restricting or open. For example, in a fic, something like "I'd like a fluffy fic about characters X and Y on a cruise ship. You're free to have them do things like go to a comedy show, eat at a candlelit restaurant, look out at the sea, etc. The only thing I really want is for the fic to end with a kiss during a fireworks show," gives them enough to write off of, a couple of ideas they can run with, and doesn't limit them too much.

I know nothing about vids (are they like AMVs?)! I'd assume suggesting a couple of songs/artists you'd like to give them options, and a few scenes you'd definitely like to see used might be good enough for something like that, maybe adding a general feel you'd like for the vid (ex. energetic, angsty, etc.).
