I don't know what your definition of "easy" is here. But it's certainly extremely possible to filter out characters. It's not something that you can do with the checkboxes and stuff, no. But it definitely exists.

I'm not sure what you're asking for, or how reasonable it is to really demand that they implement a feature that already exists.
