It depends on what kind of pan you're using, but it sounds like you're either turning up the heat too much or not cooking it long enough. I don't mean to be harsh here, but... are you actually paying attention to what you're doing and adjusting as you go? It doesn't sound like it. Unless your bacon is burning upon contact, it means you're standing there watching it overcook and not doing anything about it.
