Calling overtagging "emotional blackmail" is really stupid.

So tags reading "my first story tell me I can write" and similar, are not petty attempts at emotional blackmail?

If by "petty attempts," you mean "not at all," then sure.

"my first story tell me I can write" is a request or command, not manipulation. Annoying, sure, but not blackmail.

I really would not call it "emotional blackmail" considering how small scale that is. If you feel bad for not stopping to read that story if you don't want to the internet may not be the place for you. Is it dumb? Yeah, of course. Is it blackmail? No. There's no real threat involved. Actual emotional blackmail can be devastating and hugely damaging; let's not water down the term.
