His sexuality does come up as a plot point in S3 as well. Joe is awful at relationships though so I'm not sure whether he's going to get any more serious ones before the show gets cancelled! (I assume the past one with Simon was serious - by his standards - though.) I kind of resent the points system of bisexuality in fandom, where you need to justify why a bi character would be in a f/m relationship but Joe wanted to play at settling down and pretending everything is a-ok so Sarah makes sense. They still made a point about having the club scene and the one where he talks about getting gay bashed, and they didn't need to have either of them.
