(Anonymous) 2016-09-25 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)I never got into GoT to begin with (not least because I figured I'd hate everyone), but I'm not going to lie: If I thought that the dragons/snow zombies would actually get to eat everyone? I'd probably at least tune in for the finale.
Yeah, exactly. I don't mind darker settings as a rule. They provide an interesting backdrop for all sorts of stories. But a lot of media seems to think that a darker setting requires pitch-black characters - or at the very least, characters of highly dubious morality, with very few if any redeeming qualities - to populate it, and that doesn't appeal to me at all. I like my heroes at least marginally heroic, y'know?

Yeah, "everyone's really an asshole" is just as bland as the "everyone is a pleasant goody-two-shoes type".
