Can you seriously give me one reason why a writer would care that a reader backs out of their fic?

I just think these "I won't read your fic if blah blah blah" secrets are stupid because it's not like writers know who's reading or not or why.

Lmfao this really bugs you huh?

Nobody is using it as a bargaining chip or ultimatum, plenty of people just say "if I ever see XYZ in a fic, I back out immediately" as a way to show that their distaste for whatever trope it is overpowers however good a fic it might be. It's a way to indicate disgust.

The only person who gives a shit seems to be you. Nobody cares if an author cares or not whether someone backs out because of hitting a particular squick button.
