You're kind of underthinking it, actually, because the process of making the show is more complicated than you realize. Getting hair and make up the same isn't unlikely for television, it's the norm. It's also not hard to tell people to wear the same outfit all weekend. The reason is exactly what another user said-- they need it for continuity, because they splice together stuff from both days to get the final result and different outfits would ruin that. For example, maybe they need a shot of so-and-so mixing flour for the Showstopper, but they don't have one! But they DO have a shot of them mixing flour during their Signature bake so they use that and just pretend like it was taken during the Showstopper. All TV does this, it's how TV is made.

Thanks for your input, I really didn't know about all that! I still think it's a bit odd simply because the audience is aware that it's over the course of two days so it would make more sense in the narrative if they were allowed to change clothes on the second day. I get that maybe it's not feasible when filming though. The mysteries of TV making.
