I feel similarly, but for Gokudera. He's such a tragic character, and the trauma with his sister is always portrayed as LOLOLOL FUNNY. And his obsession with Tsuna is always used as a gag instead of a serious thing. He's a really, really broken and screwed up guy; he tears up quite a few times in the manga, but hardly ever is it done seriously. He's so desperate and tries incredibly hard over and over again. Not one single thing goes right for him. Though the most recent arc is being a lot more serious about both their characters. You'll have to be patient, I guess. Certainly keeps me reading~

Oh, Gokudera is damn depressing. I want to write angsty fic wherein Bianchi really has to deal with the fact that she causes her brother pain (if she even cares that much, given her own obsession with Reborn).

It...makes me cry. It also makes me laugh, and then feel bad about it later because, hey, that was some serious stuff I just found funny. But that's the definition of satire. I thought that I would be getting just you standard shounen fair-- I was very, very wrong.

Bianchi seems much better in the future arc, at least. I couldn't stand her in Daily Life because she did nothing but bring the unfunny every time she popped her head in, but I really like some of her scenes with Gokudera in the recent chapters.

IAWTC. I think most character backgrounds and development is kept at a lighter tone to fit the shounen setting better, and keep the plot moving with a light-hearted setting, but when you settle down and take a look at the characters, you realize it's not as happy-go-lucky as you'd have it believe. Even Yama, and people seem to forget he wanted to throw himself off a building once. xD;

But, you have to admit his trauma about Bianchi and his obsession with Tsuna were used for comic effect in canon so it's not surprising.
