B-but... lurking on the internet does not actually require any particular kind of talent. If you're any good at it, it doesn't even require much time either. How does right clicking around 60-70 images a day actually do you any good? Isn't it just time consuming? How do your detective skillz~~ benefit from this practice? I'm not mocking, I am legit interested.

That's just how it starts. From there, you can figure out a lot of other things about a person; where they post, their AIM names, Livejournal names, all without doing anything illegal. Even if the person is very internet shy. It's more out of curiosity than maliciousness.

I could understand if this person was in your favourite band or was in anyway famous (internet fame does not, NOT count) but these are just normal people... you don't even get bragging rights dude.

I mean look at my lj profile, all you'll find out is what I've listed there. There is plenty of information but it doesn't really say who I am, so if you're so good at this go read it and then tell me what you've learned. I'd be amazed if you lurked that much to actually find out anything.
