Re: What is something you bought that was a waste of money?

The manga I bought as a teenager, I realised the other day that I don't really want it anymore, not even to put in storage because that will just put the problem somewhere else instead of getting rid of it.

So now I'm considering if I can maybe sell it(probably unlikely) or give it away(most likely).

If you're in the US, try selling it back to Powells. That's how I managed to shrink my massive manga collection down. Sure, they'd only give me $1 a book, but it was better than nothing. And they paid for shipping.

I'm in the UK but I'm wondering if Waterstones might have a similar thing, even if it's not for much I'd rather just get rid of it. Though I think my Tsubasa volumes may have to be given away since I didn't purchase them over here, not sure how that would work.

If you have a local used book store, they might take them for store credit, that's how I've sold a few books back. Or around here, I'll donate them to the library which then sells them during their annual book sale. Manga was great at the time but OMG I have so many volumes and they take up a ton of space.

I'll give used-book stores or the local library a look, I just really want them gone and the space they take up back, lol.

I'm just imagining having some shelf space back and it's amazing. :P

It was glorious when I got rid of Prince of Tennis, Naruto and Hana Yori Dango. SO MUCH SPACE! (to fill with more books/CDs/DVDs, sadly)

Haha, I've got something like 30-odd volumes of Inuyasha on my shelf IT NEEDS TO BE GONE. Plus some other assorted stuff, oh I've got some Bleach don't I? Gah.

And yeah my new space will be taken up by DvD's and comics more than likely too. It's slightly possible that I have too much shit, lol.

You have no idea! I had Inuyasha too, but that went as well. I've held on to Hana Kimi, Kare Kano, and Sailor Moon, and a few others, but I have 4 Billy bookshelves filled with stuff.

I have a slight problem.

Moving books/CDs/DVDs is the absolute worst.

I'm going to be holding onto the WoW three-volume manga they did years ago, because I still genuinely like that, and maybe some of the one-shot stuff I have. But the rest of it is definitely going.

Oooh and I might keep the Labyrinth one? Idk... it started off fine but ended really lackluster. The cover-art is amazing though.

Oh it is awful, I do not look forward to moving my DvD and book collections one day, that's going to be an... undertaking.

And manga is heavy too, considering its size! I'm just glad I started downsizing ages ago and didn't wait to do it all at once. I cleared out a bunch of books now too and it's still overwhelming.

I don't know how some people move all the time. Once is enough for me.

I should have started to trickle it out bit by bit over the years but I kept talking myself out of it but recently I realised that I really need to start otherwise I will have to do it when I move, and I dont want that on top of everything else.

I've only moved a few times but yeah, it's so tiring and stressful.

If you're in the UK, if all else fails, try giving it to a charity shop. Better than tossing them out.
