I want to watch some more foreign (non Hollywood) movies

What would you all suggest? I enjoy horror, action, and drama. No torture porn kinds of movies.

Under the Shadow was a really great and scary Iranian horror film! I think it's actually getting a release in the US as well so it would be easy to go see, I really enjoyed it.

I recently watched two good Australian movies: Primal (2010) and Tomorrow, When the War Began.

Have some horrors!

[REC], from Spain
Wyrmwood, from Australia, and it's also very funny
Housebound, from New Zealand
Green Room is American made and stars some people you've definitely seen, but trust me, it is NOT Hollywood but indie as all fuck. All the credit and good reviews that Don't Breathe is getting right now? In my opinion, it should all be for this movie instead - and I even liked Don't Breathe!

I love all the [Rec] movies but [Rec]3: Genesis has a special place in my heart for the chainsaw scene.

Footnote (I always rec this one, haha). It's a drama/dark comedy, and I found it really wrenching. You would absolutely not expect that from the synopsis.

The Orphanage is really good. It's a Spanish horror film about a woman who buys, and moves her family into, the orphanage where she grew up. Wonderfully creepy without anything graphic or gory.

The Devil's Backbone is a nice, not very violent horror/creepy movie. The director is Guillermo del Toro but it's an older movie (a Spanish/Mexican co-production, I think).

For action, though it's a bit more violent, the French original of Brick Mansions. Original title is Banlieue 13. Has a lot of great parkour scenes.
