I skip the sketches from the Joel years, but watch the ones from the Mike era.

Me too! I don't like Joel at all.

you know, I never seen anything from Joel's era - am I missing any good [being subjective] movies?

(I discovered it on SciFi channel when it was in the Mike era)

I'm not a huge Joel fan, but there are several really good episodes. I'd recommend:

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Tormented
Manos: The Hands of Fate
and really all of Season 5 (his last episode was Mitchell, partway through the season)

Also, Pod People!

(Anonymous) 2016-09-28 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely! It's a different vibe but it's still the same show. Also, I mean, Manos is a Joel episode and that's maybe the most iconic episode in the whole series.

Most of season 4 and 5, yes. All the Hercules movies, The Day The Earth Froze, the Giant Gila Monster...

(Anonymous) 2016-09-29 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
The Day The Earth Froze is so underrated

also, Eegah! If you don't watch Eegah, how are you going to know to watch out for snakes?

Teenagers From Outer Space

Mr B Natural as a short is amazing.

*arrives at the thread fifteen years late* I Accuse My Parents is, in my opinion, the funniest MST3k episode.

I did this when I first started watching but then it's like I got to know them and I started liking the sketches.

How sad to think you missed the "Ode to Canada" from The Final Sacrifice.

"We must disguise our hate, just a little."

OP, I don't get you: http://youtu.be/b4MugHxp2CI

(Though actually I was the complete opposite the first few times I watched MST3k as a kid with my older siblings, only really paying attention during the skits. Which of course hugely misses the point, so...)

(Anonymous) 2016-09-29 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the exact opposite. I'm all for Joel, while seeing very little of Mike.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-29 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved Joel right away, I had to get used to Mike.
