Laverne Cox is playing Dr. Frank, which I thought was neat until I learned they cast Adam Lambert as Eddie, and now I wish they'd done it the other way around.

Actually Lambert was offered the Dr Frank role but turned it down cus he figured they should hire a transgender person for a transgender role. They then offered him Eddie.

Frank isn't transgender. He's a transvestite. There's a whole song about it.

Yeah, the only time "Transsexual" pops up in the entire show is as a planet name. And every time Frank talks about wanting feminine things in "Rose Tint My World", he says he wanted to DRESS like Fay Wray, not BE her.

Yeah this casting choice has been confusing me - I'm sure she's a fine actress but isn't the whole situation a bit insulting to her??

I think it could be a case of something like what in grammar terms would be overcorrecting. But I'm assuming they'll simply change Frank to transgender in the new version.
