literally willing to see everyone die a torturous death just so she doesn't have to stand by as Dawn dies.

Or, you know, refusing to accept an "ends justify the means" argument for the murder of her own sister.

her sister dies regardless. the outcome is the same, one could even argue thast the death by giles' hand would be way more merciful than the death that awaits her when the world goes to shit.

the outcome was going to be one and the same (in the case that the could not have stopped the ritual that is). the only change would be that she could be sure that neither her or her friends would have a hand in her sister's death.

also, the death of one person absolutely is justified if it saves every other person on the planet. that is not even debatable. ****it is 100% understandable she does not want to be the one to kill her sister****, but she actively *threatens* the people who explain that they would be willing to do what must be done. she would actively work against the UNQUESTIONABLY SUPERIOR moral choice just for the ILLUSION of protecting her sister.

AND ANOTHER THING her sudden revelation of her "gift of death" would have been WAY MORE POWERFUL if she had been convinced that her gift would be that she would kill her own sister, reinforcing the belief that BRINGING death was her destiny.

and then the realisation that she can gift her own death. that she is not a killing machine but a savior. boom.

way better impact. instead we already knew that she was prepared to die to protect her sister... and then she died for her sister. that wasn't exactly a plot twist.
