there was an /s for sarcasm there...

pretty sure OP meant it'd make sense if he was afraid of the Sister's threats about finding out why he transferred so much previously being that she found out about his sexuality and was threatening to spread word of it which would ruin his place with the church anyway. like a hypothetical, if his dark secret was that he were gay his fear of her prying and rumor-spreading makes sense without it being indicative that he's a pedo.

i got that feeling from the movie too.

man, assholes have been accusing gay people of being pedophiles for a long time.

it's like how now they're into accusing all trans people of being sexual predators for using the bathroom

OP's not saying that's what they'd think, just that it's pretty likely other people would..... because they do.
