I don't hate her, I just think she's overrated and not that good of a director. The race and gender is brought up because that's the main reason why everyone is falling over her.

Well, no, my point is: thelesbianfuturist criticized OP for bringing up race and gender, and then OP said that they only brought up race and gender because those are the main reasons why anyone likes DuVernay. but it's not a fact that race and gender are the only reasons that anyone likes DuVernay. that's OP's contention. so it doesn't work as a defense against the things that thelesbianfuturist said.

I'm not getting into the argument. It's just silly to me that you're basically saying "well YOU think X, OP" when the entire point of submitting a secret is to say that OP thinks X. That is their opinion, which they did not state as fact, so it feels redundant for you to point it out.
