I'd have liked more of her, but such is life. I don't get the social anxiety though - she's not popular, but I didn't read her as anxious per se.
Slight spoilers, kind of?
(Anonymous) 2016-10-04 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)I also have zero problem with what the writers did with her character. The whole "Justice for Barb" thing is not something I really want to jump in on. She's a good person and something horrible happens to her - not for any reason, but out of sheer, horrible chance. There's no justice in that, and there could never be any justice in that. That's what makes it affecting, IMO.
And, I mean, yes Nancy feels a sense of responsibility, and to some degree what she wants is to avenge Barb. But I don't feel like Barb is, objectively speaking, avenged. Which is to say, the narrative doesn't act as though there's some kind of justice or closure to be had for Barb, because of Nancy's actions. And that sits a lot better with me, than if the narrative was all "And Nancy avenged her friend and it was very cathartic and Barb was free to rest in peace."
