Seriously. Giving perks to people who crossed the border illegally is a slap in the face to the folks who played by the rules and jumped through the proper official hoops.

The UK government is going to be throwing out the people who went through the legal channels too. Illegals are more likely to stay because (a) they are cleaning the houses of the great and the good so blind eyes will be turned to them, and (b) it is coming into contact with officialdom that will trigger expulsion and that is something illegal workers try to avoid as a matter of course. The example they have given is foreign white collar professional workers, with degrees and everything.
