I wish it was a bigger deal but no one ever comes to our house for candy. :(

Ours either. I offered to my mother to give out candy this year in my Bellatrix costume, but we're not buying any this year because we got nobody last year.

Same here. We used to get literal bus loads of kids back in the 70s/80s when I actually went trick or treating, now we're lucky if half a dozen show up all night. Do kids just not trick or treat anymore or do they all go to the rich neighborhoods?

I assume they go to the rich neighborhoods. For them full size candy bars.

Indeed! It's what I would've done had there been rich neighborhoods in my neck of the woods, ha.

I think there's been a push my churches to host "trunk-or-treats" with all the scares that crazies are gonna hide razorblades in candy. It depresses me to no end.

Not to mention those "Hell houses" the fundy churches all have, that tell you you're going to burn in hell for being gay, doing drugs, having an abortion, etc.

Those are a real thing? I thought King of the Hill was joking when it featured one in an episode.

When I was a kid we tried every house with its porch light on, but now, in my neighborhood, parents mostly only bring their kids to the houses of people they know and the older kids who are allowed to roam free seem to have been taught that only places with Halloween decorations are passing out candy. Even with a jack-o-lantern, I was getting so few kids at the door, I gave up passing out candy several years ago.
