new anime season!

[personal profile] ketita 2016-10-06 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
So, is anybody following anything? Interested in anything?

I'm watching Natsume Yuujinchou Go, which so far is basically what I expect from Natsume Yuujinchou. Hopefully it will maintain the quality of the previous seasons, because I love that show.

I also watched the first episode of Boris Yuri on ICE out of curiosity and it... was quite a bit better than I thought it would be. They had some decent humor and character moments. Not sure I'll survive the whole show, but we'll see.

I also saw the first episode of the new gritty Magical Girl show, which I think could have been better if they had really gone for it, and been guided by actual artistry rather than tropes/pandering. Though there was an interesting reveal about one character at the end of the episode, that in a mature show could lead to actual investigation of some real issues. I'm just very cynical about their ability to go through with it, especially given the tiny prologue bit.

I really want to see Yuri on Ice. It looks like it'd be fun. I'm sorta interested in Kiss Him, Not Me. I like the concept, but the manga was boring and I'm hoping the anime improves it.

Watched Yuri on ICE as well and.... eh, I think I'll keep watching for a bit but it was pretty cringey at times and that's not something I particularly like.

I think I'll watch the second season of Bungou Stray Dogs, since I thought the first one was pretty entertaining.

I'm looking forward to Haikyuu!! starting again!

Was thinking of taking a look at Trickster: Edogawa Ranpo but.... I'm torn.

I will miss the suprisingly entertaining puppet show (Thunderbolt Fantasy) of last season.

Well, when I say "better than expected" I thought it was going to be total garbage XD which is isn't, though I definitely agree on the cringey moments. I doubt I'll stick with it to the end.

Was Thunderbolt Fantasy that entertaining? I saw one episode, but the puppetry was just so weird for me that I quit.

I thought the animation was quite pretty but they were definitely pulling no punches in the cringe-department haha!

Thunderbolt Fantasy was pretty great, I think.
I liked the characters a lot and the plot was engaging enough for me - it took some getting used to, but I quite enjoyed it.

But the puppetry is definitely the main thing that will make or break someone's interest in the show - if it's just too weird/ awkward and you can't get used to it, I think the show isn't quite hugely interesting and thrilling enough that it would make watching it worth it. You could try another episode to see if you get used to it, but if not, I wouldn't sweat it - it's a pretty short series anyway (though it will apparently get a sequel).

...Why would you expect a Sayo Yamamoto anime to be total garbage. Like, this woman is one of the best anime directors out there , her previous shows were great, and this is the pet project she has been working on for years.

Because I don't follow directors?

I'm interested only in Haikyuu!! this season. I wanted to try Yuri on Ice but it seems more fanservicey than I can tolerate.

I watched Yuri on Ice and A++++, would laugh and cringe again (I'm going to watch the whole thing!). I think one reason why it didn't seem as cringey is because I also watched the first episode of Magic-kyun Renaissance and that was so cringey I had to pause at least three times because damn. I'll probably keep watching though, haha.

Also the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is happening but I'm playing catch up on the first season. LOVE IT. What a good show.

I'm planning on watching DAYS (sports anime, this time soccer), All Out (rugby!), and Bloodivores. :D

I watched the first episode of Yuri!!! On ICE and was blown away by how beautiful it was. Idgaf about any of the cringe, as long as they maintain that standard of animation.

I'm also watching DAYS, and I've been getting into Yowamushi Pedal. They're okay. Kinda same-y.
[My anime-watching buddy is SUPER into sports anime]
