No, but in an AU it is also unlikely that someone like Bucky would have fallen off a train and gotten his arm...somehow ripped off. How DID that happen? Also, if it is an AU the character can be physically changed however the writer wants.

I always assumed his arm was damaged so severely that amputation was the only way to save his life. I know there's a flashback scene of him being dragged through the snow missing an arm but that just doesn't make sense to me so I ignore it... people get their limbs hacked off in industrial accidents, not falling-off-a-mountain accidents!

He could have hit something. Though, tbh, it's because it was blown off in the comic, and it didn't suit the plot of the film, but he still needed to have the prosthetic.

It was in a deleted scene. He fell straight down from the train and his arm went straight down a bear's throat, but the bear started choking, and when the bear collapsed, its jaw slammed down on the arm, amputating it. They had to delete it when they couldn't work out how to explain the bear's name was Martha.
