Actually, Rommel didn't follow Hitler's ideology that much in the first place-it's telling that he's the only Nazi with a museum dedicated to him in Germany.

Oh, I know. Hence why he can still be "stupid sexy Rommel (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ac/ErwinRommel.jpg)". And he was a damn fine strategist, perhaps tried to assassinate Hitler, and refused orders to murder civilians or captured Jewish soldiers. On the other hand, no matter how moral he was as an individual, being so damn good at his job was still bad news for those persecuted outside his sphere of influence. Hence my guilt.

Chiune Sugihara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiune_Sugihara) was a Japanese official on occupied Lithuania who gave exit visas to Jews during the Nazi occupation, cutting corners and sometimes completely ignoring regulations. It is estimated that he saved 6000 to 10,000 people in this way. There's also the Fugu Plot, which is a whole lotta racist WTF that, if I went into, would turn into a term paper. But overall, from what I remember in History of the Holocaust, Japan was the few countries that either had the inclination, and the ability, to protect Jewish refugees.

And if anyone has more, or contradicting information, please speak up! I'm a complete layman here.
