Meh reviews? Huh. The few reviews I've seen have been glowingly positive.

Yeah, I've only heard good things, too. It's slow in parts, but I still really enjoyed it.

Most reviews I have seen say it starts off strong but ends weakly. And that the acting is quite wooden. And the villains are boring. Also, the fighting is really lazy.

The ending is a little weak, but it's a setup for defenders. I'd give it a solid 8/10 overall.

the villains are the only reason I'm still watching it, I don't know what they're talking about...

(Anonymous) 2016-10-08 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh well, the fighting is bound to get lazy when one of the fighters have superhuman strength and unbreakable skin. It doesn't bother him, so why get exited?

(Anonymous) 2016-10-08 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've heard a few meh reviews on a few podcasts, although the cast is universally applauded. I think the consensus is that it would have been way better if it had only been maybe 6-8 concise episodes instead of 13. (DD and JJ included in this too). I think the showrunner is well, new to showrunning, and it shows. It also doesn't have the impact of amazing fight choreography like DD, or a single terrifying villain like JJ. I do like Mike Colter though.

Most of the reviews I've read have been reviewing the idea of the show rather than saying anything about what it is like in actuality. That is something that is not encouraging.

Fair enough.

I watched a few episodes. I have to say I found it a bit boring. I found Daredevil S2 boring as well. The only show I really loved and couldn't stop watching was Jessica Jones.

I guess the whole "gritty, cop drama" thing isn't working for me. I've already seen Law & Order.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-08 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't been following the reviews, but I'm enjoying the series so far.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-08 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I really, really love it so far. I'm only 3 in.

Since when does the entire season have to be fantastic end to end to get good revie---oh. Since they started season dumping. But that's silly.

I'm 2 episodes in and I must say the jury's not out yet. I didn't instantly love it like I did Daredevil (but, I felt the same about JJ).

I think I see what they're trying to do with it, though, so I'm not giving up on it. It has great music and I like the acting. I like the cinematography. It just feels more like "crime show" than "superhero show" to me at this point.

Also I feel like sometimes Luke is too much of a "silent protagonist", but hey, we'll see.

Funny, almost all the reviews I've seen are that it's amazing. The "mehs" come from white dudes who don't understand why a show set in Harlem is all about black culture.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-09 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Bit of a generalization to make. Some people aren't fans of the gritty cop show aesthetic.

I ain't either, but you know damn well the "blackness" is the source for the majority of complaints.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-08 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked it? Really loved the women in this. One of the villains was kind of meh? Did not feel that arc at all. But the rest was very enjoyable. I watched it in one sitting.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-08 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only watched one episode so I'm on the fence right now. I'll give it a few more eps, because it feels like a bit of a slow start like DD did to me.

I'm enjoying it so far, it's perhaps a bit more cop-show than I'd like but there's still superhero things going on, the music composition is great and I'm quite fond of Misty so I've got no complaints.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-09 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Seconding what everyone's saying here. All the reviews I've seen are apeshit over the series, apart from some issues with the pacing near the end. I'm on episode 5 right now and I'm enjoying it (especially the score holy shit I love the music).

(Anonymous) 2016-10-09 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Almost all the bad reviews I've read are from male Daredevil stans that criticize it for problems that DD has too. Funny how they're obsessed with one but the other is "disappointing."
