I really want to like this, but the trailer already had too much unnecessary slapstick for my taste. Disney REALLY needs to quit with the animal sidekicks, too.

Kids like animal sidekicks, though. So they probably won't quit.

This exactly.

When main characters start selling the most toys, they'll do that I"m sure.

Bingo. Cutesy animal sidekick = lots of money to be made from selling toys/figures.
bur: It's an octopus with a bat from Pirate Baby's Cabana Street Fight 2006. (Octobat)

Welcome to American Disney trailers? That's kinda been their thing for many, many, many of their animated movie trailers.

Lmao it's a fucking Disney movie, jfc are you daft? That is LITERALLY what they do and what they're based on. Mickey Mouse? Donald Duck? They're not making movies for you, they're making them for kids.

+1, good lord. They're kids movies. They're not for us, and they shouldn't be. You're not the audience anymore; you're growing up and that's fine.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-08 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Recently there's been more slapstick in the trailers than in the actual movies. They think that's what'll get kids in the seats.

If you've reached the point where animal sidekicks don't do it for you, you're older than their primary target demographic. You're a peripheral demographic now. And that's fine.
