I wouldn't tag this as 'internalized homophobia' at all - he wants to keep his personal life private, that's good. I do wonder why he's work for a company that would shame him/penalize him for it, but then - that's not always a choice.

TPTB at this organization wouldn't actively shame him for it; in fact, I'm sure they'd go out of their way to make a show of ~proud and ~accommodating they are. They'd want him to be some kind of goodwill ambassador to the lgbt community. The majority of the others he has to deal with in this big extremely homosocial organization? A lot more mixed. And that's not even considering the media, and average peoples' opinions of this person in their public eye. It's a complicated and uncomfortable situation all around.
