I do think the anime's outcome was pretty forced but being the nerd that I am, I can't help nitpicking you here, lol. So... would Gren's water shuriken still be considered super effective when you factor in the fact that Megazard X is part Dragon-type? (I know, I know, that's game logic...)

:) Point for you - checking the type chart, it would hit for neutral damage (then again, the giant Water Shuriken is an attack with no game equivalent).

I'm pretty sure Mega Charizard X's Blast Burn would be weak against Greninja, though, and by game rules Alain would have a harder time of it.

Oh dude, once we start mixing game and anime logic it opens the door for all kinds of wankery. Like, I've seen people argue that Megazard being Dragon-type somehow means that its fire attack is actually dragon fire and therefore Ash-Gren wouldn't resist that. Balls out insane.

Even if we recreated the entire anime battle faithfully in-game, though, there would still be people arguing over the fact that a fucking Pikachu took out a Metagross and still somehow had the strength to take more than one hit from a Mega. Writers will do as they please.
