It has that reputation, yes. But when I went there, I really enjoyed the fish and chips, excellent full English breakfasts with homemade jam at the B&B I stayed in, delicious Indian curries, the best braised lamb I've ever had at a little Greek restaurant, more fish and chips, any number of tasty cheeses, flaky amazing Cornish pasties with various fillings, etc. etc.

Was the cuisine as amazing as France? Well, no. But it was very good and enjoyable, and anyone who dismisses it out of hand (and so universally) isn't, IMO, speaking from a full experience of the country.
