There was no rape in 'The Dark Knight Returns'. Anything can be problematic for any reason. A white character being played by a white actor is problematic now.

I mean...they are not wrong. Look at the hoopla around Benedict Cumberbatch playing Dr. Strange. Or whoever is playing Iron Fist in the new TV show. Those are white actors playing white characters.

Nope, just scanned some dumb io9 article titles about an asian guy getting cast as the main character. I couldn't be less interested in Iron Fist.

...And of course the article isn't on the main page anymore now that I go back to check what it was actually about.

The short version is that Iron Fist, who has always been a white guy that got raised in a mystical chinese city, is now considered rather problematic by some cause appropriation and the like. Then a big cry came out to recast him as asian, but nothing actually came of this any more then it did with Strange, where they actually did racebending.

lol there's no trolling. People are pissed that Iron Fist is a white guy even though he's been a white guy since his very conception.

People were actually upset that the new MCU
Peter Parker isn't a black guy. Or that it wasn't Miles instead of Peter.

If you give a mouse a cookie and all that...

...Wait, wait. I thought they wanted a Miles Morales instead of a Peter Parker for the next Spiderfilm, not just a straight up black Peter Parker? One of those things is making a white character black, the other is very much not.

Like, why not though? We've had a deluge of Peter Parker (some iterations whinier than others) and they've all basically done the same origin story. I've long since stopped going to those movies, so why not feature Morales?

And Miles Morales is a boring character, that's why. The only reason why people pretend to care is because he's a person of color.

Well, I'm definitely bored of Parker at this juncture so for me personally I'd welcome a change.

Actually... come to think of it I'd also like to see a non-Wayne Batfam member in a movie or something as well, but that's probably a pipe dream too.
