High school guidance counselors. I never had to go to one until my senior year when I needed her to sign my transcripts and stuff for college applications. Up until then, I didn't think my high school had any and they must be either made up for tv or something from an earlier era that tv writers didn't realize didn't exist anymore. She was useless for actual guidance, though.
