Yeah I don't know why I ship them, myself. It's not just "Hey they're both really hot!" though it helps. XD

I was actually surprised, because I remembered during the first episode some of the background/announcer chatter compared her to Jackie Robinson and that was shot down by a lot of other characters, which really, it's a pretty apt comparison.

Pitchers and catchers work extremely closely, and are often expected to be "thinking as one person," where the catcher is the brains calling the play and the pitcher delivers. It's so intimate, you can totally understand the urge to ship. Happens in the fandom for the baseball anime I watch too. The main catcher is a giant fandom bicycle because he catches 5+ important pitcher characters. Although my favorite would be the backup catcher, Chris, for the senpai angle, tbh.

Hell, I ventured very cautiously in the baseball RPF section on a rec for a certain gen story, and backed away at the RPF slash-- but the most popular ships were all catcher/pitcher variations. That is so not my thing, but I guess it shows fangirls are seeing the chemistry in their irl teams...

In Pitch, however, I'm really liking the Baker-Lawson relationship but very much NOT shipping it because that's too easy. I'm getting it very sibling-y from them; close enough to razz and to motivate and to be confidants, but not romantic. I'm not going to be too surprised if they go there, but it's so nice to have F/M friendships...!

I wouldn't be surprised if they went there, though a part of me doesn't want them to because I feel like it'd shift the focus from them as players and become all about the relationship as so many shows do. :/

And yeah, pitchers/catchers (even RL) are surprisingly easy to ship (*cough*MadBum/Buster Posey*cough*).

Poor Timmy gets the most of it, what with the shortness and the pretty long hair, and ugh. I follow my team very closely but I couldn't even consider shipping any of my pitchers/catchers.

Although I did think that when he was briefly with us, Tim Lincecum and Geovany Soto might be the most epic stoner buddy battery in the history of baseball.

Yeah I don't RPF sports at all, but can see why people would. XD Especially dugout shenanigans and how good looking so many of them are.
