I watched the first episode and a half and I got bored with it. Yeah, she's the first woman pitcher on a major league baseball team, but maybe there could be some other storylines besides for that?

It kind of makes me feel like I'm watching an afterschool special instead of a well-developed TV show for adults.

Also, she's too skinny. A pitcher should have bigger arm muscles.

Well... the plot revolves around her being the first female pitcher, so the majority of the plot is going to focus on that. I thought it did pretty well in episodes 2 and 3 branching out and showing how this affected other characters/working on developing the other characters lives and motivations as well.

Well, I take most shows with a grain of salt, and I've see some pretty scrawny male pitchers, so if that's the only thing I have to harp on, I think they're doing okay. Plus they have mentioned that she doesn't have the same speed on her fastball that the guys do because of her body type, so it is sort of addressed.

Maybe I'll give it another shot this week. :)

But it's not that it's the only thing to harp on, it's that all the men look their parts. You don't have a hot guy playing the manager, you have Dan Lauria. They made Mark-Paul Gosselaar look virtually unrecognizable and he used to be pretty cute. But of course the first woman pitcher also has to look like a model.

I dunno, Mark-Paul looked fucking hot to me. I love the beard.

I agree that it would seem strange if she was the only attractive player, but almost the whole team is (and a lot of players in RL are too).

Her manager is also very pretty, and tbh some of the guys ARE hot.

She's a crafty lefty, not a power pitcher

She's not a lefty, though, which is my main reservation on the series. It's frequently discussed that the easiest way to get to the mlb is as a left-handed pitcher because it's the most rare and sought-after position. Right handed. You can get away with topping out at 87 as a lefty... as a righty, well, there's a reason there's only been one non-knuckleballing right-handed starter like that in at least the last SIXTEEN YEARS Source; see the table. He's on my Angels. I love Weave, but it hasn't been pretty the past 3 years.

And tbh, you actually shouldn't create your spot judgement of a pitcher based on arm muscles, you should look at his legs/ass. You generate all your momentum and power with your lower half. You still need enough power to throw effectively, even with finesse as the build. Which... I wish Baker were taller too. It's like the easiest qualification for a woman athlete to meet. Height gives you a longer stride, and more leverage on your pitches. :\ And yet I'm still really enjoying it (disbelief firmly suspended).
