Re: Christmas Wish Lists

We do lists. When we were younger I think it was actually more for our benefit as it's hard for a kid or even a teenager to come up with something an adult would like sometimes. Then later on, turned out my brother, father and I were all pretty geeky and into niche hobbies/interests. So we always had a bunch of ideas, but *very* specific ones. It's sort of starting to mellow down, as you get older you can just buy things yourself if you really want them. We usually get each other surprise gifts too though, either something completely unexpected, or something where the giver can let their own taste shine through. Those are very hit or miss, but they keep things exciting.

I can get why people dislike lists, but it depends on how well you know the person and/or how much money you intend to spend. My brother and I spend quite a bit on each other because we don't really have any other family. If I'm going to do that, I want to know I'm not buying anything he's going to hate. I don't spend nearly as much on his girlfriend, but I don't know her that well, so even a small gift or two are difficult to find.
