How to promote yourself for Commmission

[personal profile] dani_phantasma 2016-10-11 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
So I'm having trouble getting hours and looking for a second job. I'm trying to find ways to earn money while I'm looking. I'm trying to constantly work on my art and get commissions, but I've been struggling to actually get them.

How do you get people to actually want to commission you. I can do art. I'm just shy about promoting myself. But I need to so I can get money to pay health insurance while I'm looking.

(Examples of my art-

I'm trying to build up a profile of art before I go and make my commission widget on dA

A lot of self promo to be honest. I see a lot on Tumblr. Just try not to be persistent about it.

I will be a little harsh: your art is not very polished, and for that reason I think it might be difficult to find people willing to commission you. Your best bet is probably finding something simple that you can make cute and attractive - like sprites, or ponies, or chibi characters.
Rather than trying to just improve your art in general, try finding a specific niche in which you can produce good quality cute products.
Rather than general art improvement, look for tutorials on finishing your art well, quality linework, and color theory.

I do hope things work out for you.

Thanks! That was really helpful.

I've been looking at better art lately to figure out how to make my art look more polish.

Ponies are no problem for me so I think I'll start working on that. Pony adoptables it is then!

And thanks. I hope I can get the week job I need so I don't need to do this.
