Tea lovers

I have to shop for a tea lover. They already have the basic equipment. What is something I can get them for around $20?

really nice tea (maybe a sampler of a bunch of fancy teas)

or, like, a book about tea maybe? idk

Some fancy loose leaf tea blends maybe? I'm sure a big time tea lover wouldn't mind having more teas.

Or maybe some nice cups? Imo you can never have too many mugs.

Seconding fancy loose-leaf tea blends I live by those.

Maybe a nice mug and some teas? Teavana is usually a little on the pricey side, but you can sample in store. Do you know what they like? Some people are very particular on whether they drink black tea or green tea or herbal tea. See if you cna pick up on that, or if you know their hobbies you can always get them a cute tea ball (Death Star tea ball for Star Wars fans, a duck one if they like cute things)

Samplers are always good! As a tea lover, I love sampler packs because it's a good way to try new flavours without committing to a huge amount of one kind.

David's tends to have samplers for $12.50 to $25 I think?

Or maybe some specialty teas, samplers, that kind of thing? A tea cozy?

If they do loose leaf tea you could get something for steeping. I have a tea ball with a cute ladybug charm on it.

I just got a cute new fox steeper from David's! It's super cute!

I have actually been tempted to take up tea drinking with loose-leaf tea just so I would have a reason to buy a cute infuser.

To me loose leaf tea, especially the fancy kinds, are so good and taste better than bag! I mean, I still drink tea from tea bags cause I'm lazy, but loose leaf is a nice treat.

seconding the others; new blends would be good! if you're not a tea person, the basic thing you should be sure of is whether they like: a) black tea, b) green tea, c) herbal tea, and/or d) rooibos tea. With those as bases, you can find a lot of different flavor varieties that might appeal to them!

This book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nice-Cup-Tea-Sit-Down/dp/0751537659/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1476152267&sr=1-1&keywords=%22nice+cup+of+tea%22

Everything you need to know about cups of tea. And a sit down.

Depends on what kind of tea lover they are, to be honest. Unless you know for certain what their tastes are, I wouldn't necessarily get them any tea. It'd be a sad thing for a gung fu cha aficionado to receive some shitty Teavana* blends or imported Earl Grey. Likewise, someone who just enjoys a British style cuppa may not really appreciate a fancy first flush Darjeeling.

If they like British style tea, maybe consider some things to make a fancy afternoon tea... nice tea towels or napkins, pretty plates, fancy teaspoons, that kind of tea. A cool mug, maybe. A decorative tea ball, a nice jar of local honey if they take their tea with sweetener.

* Overpriced, marketed to people who don't really like tea, they like hot water flavored to taste like something besides tea. It's the Starbucks of the tea world.

I'm pretty sure Starbucks owns Teavana? Or Teavana is a subsidiary or something. I've seen the Teavana logo on Starbucks cups and stuff.

I feel like it wouldn't be hard to discern someone's tea tastes though, either by looking at their pantry or just working it into conversation.

Go to Adagio and make a special blend for them! It's really easy to do, and it'd be a nice, personal thing. You can even make your own label and have them print it on the pack.

I think samplers of loose tea are nice - it's a great way to get new, even pricier teas to try them before buying a great amount. There often are themed samplers, like different black teas, greenactment teas, fruit or herbal infusion etc. -you'd need to know what type the person likes, though.

Unless they're complaining about Too Many Mugs, a mug is a good gift either on its own or in addition to tea. (Making sure they're dishwasher/microwave safe is a big plus too) There's lots of fandom-related mugs out there and society6 and redbubble have fanart mugs if they're geeky.
