Do what wise people have done for all of human history:

Judge others based on their actions, not their words.

I do like the sentiment, but what about when their words and their actions contradict in a way that has political implications

I don't really follow.

If someone says they're asexual and pops a bone at every sexy lady that passes, they're not asexual.

If someone says they're honest and lies all the time, they're not honest.

Why is one political and one not?

nayrt

Because no one meets a liar and assumes that everyone who says they are honest, or is called honest by others, must automatically be lying because clearly if a liar calls him/herself honest, that means that everyone who claims to be honest must be lying about it. Whereas people do make assumptions about "no one is genuinely asexual" or "no one is genuinely bi" when they meet a bunch of people who claim to be asexual or bi, yet very much aren't.

IME, there are people out there who do exactly that. Like, they say "There was this person who everyone admired and called a good person. In fact, they were an abusive asshole to me, but when I told people, nobody I knew would believe it of them, because they hid their dark side just that well. So any time someone is admired by all the people around me, and pointed out to me as an exemplary human being, I always assume they're just another abusive asshole who has everybody fooled."

I've seen that viewpoint expressed right here at F!S, in fact.
