I don't know your fandom, but I hear ya. Trying to stay neutral in the midst of ALL THE DRAMA can be so exhausting.

This is me right now with the Supergirl and the DC Extended Universe fandom. Who cares if Tyler Hoechlin gave a good performance as Superman that is close to the Richard Donner films/Superfriends cartoon, while Henry Cavill's Superman is too broody, dark and not close to the Superman we loved in the comics and the Christopher Reeve film? They're both different interpretations and I love them both.

This is where I'm at with the election.

I don't think the analogy holds, unless one of the sides wants to ban Muslims from posting in the fic archives.

Annnnnnnd this is exactly what I'm talking about. Yes, yes, your side is the only sane one, and everyone on the other side is human garbage. I get it. *snore*

Sometimes one side is actually right, though

Both Sidesism is not always correct. There isn't actually any law of the universe that says, if there are two extremes, the truth is in the middle.

O hi there, right and wrong anon!

(Anonymous) 2016-10-17 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I genuinely don't know how to respond to that

I didn't say any of that. All I said was that the analogy doesn't hold. Overall, government policies usually have more of an effect than shipping wars.

Voltron? MCU? Or something else? A lot of fandoms are like this.

And I hear you. This is where I'm at with MCU. I have my preferences, but I try to avoid the wank. But things are so factionalized and so polarized that it's very difficult.

Star Wars vs. Star Trek

DC vs. Marvel

the Book vs. the Movie

fandom fights, a tale as old as time

Not in my experience. Rival fandoms are never as vicious as in-fandom rivalries. Harry Potter vs. Lord of the Rings? Yawn. James Is A Saint Snape is Satan vs. Snape Is A Saint James is Satan? Ding ding ding ding! Get ready for bloodshed.

My first thought was Supernatural and TFA, but that's just because it's where I see the most wank because it's what I have a lot of in my Tumblr thingie.

But it could be any of a bunch of different fandoms.

Is this somehow Power Rangers related or am I just really, really tired?
