For those who celebrate Christmas

When do you usually start your shopping? How long before actually shopping do you start deciding who gets what?

It depends, but usually sometime in November, unless I see something I know someone would REALLY want before then and they don't have a birthday in the fall or something

Oh boy am I ever not buying things for people this year.

I usually don't even pay attention until December and then buy things last minute. I really do put thought into the gifts I give, but I just don't have time to be doing all this stuff before I absolutely have to.

I'm from Belgium and we have Sinterklaas, so most of the people I know refuse to do much of anything Christmassy until that's over. So, anywhere after December 5 or 6 is when the season kicks off for us and then it's obviously kind of a rush. It's kind of fun though, that way it's only a month and you don't get sick of it.

I keep a hidden Amazon wishlist that I add stuff to for people all year around. I generally start buying things in October unless I see a great sale.

I start thinking about what I'm going to get people in late November and do all my shopping the first week in December.

literally just last night i started writing down a detailed list of the presents I have, the presents I need to get, and what shops I'll go to and when

I celebrate Christmas, but I don't buy Christmas presents, and I really wish people wouldn't give me presents, either. I find the whole thing really stressful and joyless and wasteful. I do enjoy cooking and baking for people during the holidays, though.

When it gets to October that's when I'll start thinking about gifts I can get people and poking around online and in stores to see what I can buy each person.

I try to at least figure out what I'm going to get people in October or November.

I mentioned it to my mom the other day (seeing if my dad needed a new grill set, because his tools were old, but apparently he bought some new tools...damn) and she said she didn't really want to do presents at all this year. :/ so now I'm holding off until we decide what we're gonna do. (I love gift shopping, I love wrapping, and I love giving people things. I'm not gonna lie I will be disappointed if we go that route.)

Working on the list right now, and will get the big gifts before Halloween. That gives me almost two months to get little gifts and all the gift cards, etc, for the service people, extended family, etc.

But I buy Christmas gifts year 'round, whenever I see something perfect. I just have to remember them...
