I'm pretty damn annoyed by all the drama surrounding Ao3 right now. A group of fandom morality police have been whining on Tumblr and such about 'how awful those kink writers are'. And how dare Ao3 allow these horrible people to write and post such awful stuff.

I don't know who is more annoying: the adults who won't learn any better or the teens who attack writers and then play the victim card (how dare these adults I attacked talk to me about their kinks that I was yelling at them about).

...I don't know if I want to ask for more info on this.

Wait, Ao3 are the target of the morality police? That is fucking hilarious. Now that is true poetic justice. Maybe there is a god after all.

They are the target because they don't remove fics with abuse and such. I mean, HOW DARE AO3 NOT DO THAT THING????

I don't care what they are doing or not doing, I'm just happy those smug moralizing preachy bastards are on the receiving end for a change.

I didn't realize there was drama. I hope AO3 holds their ground.

http://lizdexia.tumblr.com/post/151764452787/magnusbene-honestly-i-dont-even-care-why-ao3 is the start of it I think. The OP's tumblr is an amazing trainwreck of them alternating between screaming they're a mentally ill teen and can't be held responsible for anything and they are an adult media studies expert with many papers proving that reading 'abusive' fanfic is literally the worst thing that can happen to anyone.

These kinds of fanfics have lasted forever. Hell, these kinds of stories have lasted forever. I sort of draw the line at RPF, but honestly, where is the harm in there being fanfics about abuse, rape, and torture? Maybe it's not pleasant. But it's not hurting anyone and that people who would be hurt by it would have to actively seek it out to read it.

But if it's ok to write about it, people will assume it's ok to do it! And asking victims to just not click on stuff is saying everything that happens to them is their fault!

I wish I was exaggerating.
